Why subscribe to Leytonstoner?
Founded in 2015, Leytonstoner is the only regular 100% independent newsletter and online publication dedicated to food, drink, arts and culture in the East London postcodes of E10, E11, E15, E17, E20 and beyond. Thousands of you have read it for nearly a decade. And happily, the readership continues to climb.
Since relaunching on Substack last year, subscriptions have soared and it’s become the place to head for local in-depth food and culture stories, longer reads, (very) frank restaurant reviews and the latest foodie gossip. You even get to suggest what I cover (I listen to everyone’s suggestions). And the more people who pay to subscribe, the more in-depth stories I can publish.
It’s hit both Substacks’s Global Rising Chart (peaking at #9 last month) as well as the Food & Drink Top 100 chart. Subscriptions have now passed the 5000 mark.
As the most exciting up-and-coming corner of London, 2025 will be a big deal for our area - and not just as it’s Leytonstoner’s tenth birthday. The year also promises huge new openings, from world-class museums like the five-storey V&A East on Stratford’s new East Bank waterfront to Walthamstow’s new Soho Theatre, not to mention the increasingly vibrant food & drink scene in Leyton and Leytonstone.
Leytonstoner is lovingly edited by broadsheet journalist and food & travel writer Stephen Emms, a longterm freelancer for The Guardian, BBC Travel, Sunday Times, Conde Nast Traveller and more.
So, if you’re interested in characterful journalism about East London’s best corner, enter your email address to subscribe now and receive our unique stories in your inbox.
I want this to be a collaborative project. If you subscribe and have something you want us to write about, we want to hear from you: stephen@leytonstoner.london
